Our Certified Cyber Security Practitioner (Ce-CSP) programme is designed to give you a solid foundation in cyber security within a real business context, helping you to develop the skills you need to step into a cyber role in as little as 4 months.

You’ll take part as a trainee cyber security consultant, working within a fictional company to strengthen its security posture.

This hands‑on, scenario‑based approach means you learn by doing, building the practical skills and confidence needed to succeed in the workplace.

Tutor-led

You'll have expert tutors on hand for support in every session

Team-based learning

You'll work in a team of 4-6 people, solving real-world problems like you're in the workplace

The course is 100% remote, so you'll meet daily in the virtual classroom (on Zoom)

What you'll learn

Problem area 1: Understanding cyber security in business

You’ll begin by understanding why cyber security exists, and where it sits within an organisation, covering topics such as:

  • Ethics
  • Culture
  • Cyber awareness
  • Risk

Problem area 2: Security by design

You’ll start to consider an organisation’s security architecture by working on real, scenario-based problems, developing your understanding of key concepts including:

  • Networks
  • Operating systems
  • Governance & compliance
  • Laws & regulations
  • Audit

Problem area 3: Applied security

Using the skills and knowledge developed through problem areas 1 and 2, you’ll now approach working across more complex exercises, such as:

  • Endpoints
  • Cloud security
  • Cryptography
  • Access control
  • Digital forensics

Problem area 4: Offensive and defensive security

Your understanding of the cyber security threat landscape will deepen further as you apply your knowledge in the context of different security environments. This problem area covers:

  • Security Operations Centre / SOC (often known as the blue-team)
  • Penetration testing (often referred to as red-team, or ethical hacking)
  • Threat intelligence
  • Reconnaissance and malware analysis

Problem area 5: Business continuity management

Now ready to tackle the wider picture, you’ll develop your understanding of what it takes to build strategic business resilience, looking at:

  • Operational technology (OT)
  • Physical security
  • Incident management & response

Ready to get started?

We don’t have academic entry requirements. Instead, we’re looking for people with passion, drive, and determination to work hard and reskill.

You can join the programme if you’re 18 or over, able to communicate in English at a conversational level, and able to attend at least 90% of classes. You should be willing to work with others, learn, and participate fully, and you’ll need basic IT skills along with a computer that has a working camera and microphone.

Application

You’ll complete a short application form to register your interest and confirm your eligibility for the course.

Assessment

You’ll be invited to complete a self assessment and some pre-course work in preparation for starting the course.

Introductory call

We’ll give you a call to chat about what led you to apply, and why you’re interested in a career in cyber security.

Interview

We’ll meet with you on Zoom to chat further about your aspirations for the CAPSLOCK course and beyond.

Offer & tuition funding

Following a successful interview, you’ll receive an offer, and begin arranging your tuition funding.

Enrolment

Once tuition funding is arranged, your place will be confirmed and you’ll be enrolled onto the course.

Is the course accredited?

Yes! Our Certified Cyber Security Practitioner (Ce-CSP) course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Information Security (CIISec), and all CAPSLOCK graduates who pass the course are eligible to apply for Accredited Affiliate membership with CIISec.

How can I get help with the pre-course work?

If you need help with any part of the pre-course work, we’re happy to help. You can visit the CAPSLOCK Slack workspace and ask for help in the dedicated "pre-course_help" channel – or get in touch with the team.

Can I call someone to discuss my application?

We mostly communicate via email for continuity and audit purposes, however, we’d be very happy to arrange a time to speak with you over the phone, or via Zoom.

How many people land a job after graduating from CAPSLOCK?

On average, around 75% of our learners have secured a role in a cyber-related field within six months of graduating from the course.

The cyber security sector continues to grow rapidly with many opportunities available for those new to the industry. CAPSLOCK also continues to develop direct partnerships with UK cyber security employers who actively recruit our learners.

When do I pay my tuition fee?

You won’t need to pay a penny until you have completed the CAPSLOCK pre-course work. Once you’re at the right stage of the admissions process, we’ll ask you to begin the process of arranging your chosen funding option to pay for your enrolment. This must be completed the week prior to joining the course.
