We don’t have rigid entry requirements at CAPSLOCK, as we know that your academic past or current situation doesn’t dictate your future potential. No matter your background, if you meet the eligibility criteria here you can apply to enrol at CAPSLOCK.

You are over the age of 18.

We reskill adults into cyber security professions, so you need to be over the age of 18 to enrol.

You need to be able to communicate with your tutors, classmates, and mentors using spoken and written English throughout the course, so must be able to speak and understand English to a conversational level.

%

You can attend and participate in at least 90% of the course and fully engage

You must be able to attend and fully participate in at least 90% of the scheduled sessions to successfully complete the CAPSLOCK bootcamp. We need to have your full attention during class hours so that you can participate in the sessions. This means that you can’t be working whilst you’re in sessions.

You are open to working with others and are willing to learn and participate

At CAPSLOCK, you will work closely with your peers in small groups. Understanding the importance of teamwork, and openly contributing and collaborating with your team is an essential part of the course. You need to have a desire to learn new skills, develop your existing transferable skills, and be willing to fully engage and participate in the course.

You have the basic IT skills and tech needed to succeed

You need to have basic computer skills to access our Digital Campus. You will need a laptop or desktop computer, a webcam, a microphone or headset, and a stable internet connection. As the course is interactive with lots of discussion, you must be on camera during sessions and have a suitable, quiet place at home to focus and engage.

NB: These are CAPSLOCK's entry requirement and you may need to meet additional entry requirements for Skills Bootcamps funding

1. Application

The first step to a career in cyber is submitting the application form. You can find this at the bottom of the page. In the form we’ll ask you for you some information about yourself, your preferences for joining the course, and then ask you to answer some questions about your motivations and current circumstances.

Submitting the application form is 100% commitment-free.

To get started with the application, all you'll need is 10-15 minutes to read and answer each question, and a cup of tea.

2. Pre-course work

As part of your conditional offer of enrolment, we’ll ask you to complete some pre-course work. This is 20-25 hours of self-guided study where you’ll watch videos, read texts and complete cyber labs and quizzes.

Our pre-course work is designed to give you the foundational knowledge you need to join the course, so that everyone is on the same page on the first day. It assess your determination and problem solving skills, whilst giving you a commitment-free opportunity to see if cyber security is a right fit for you.

3. Tuition funding

We’ll invite you to apply for Skills Bootcamps funding once you have completed the pre-course work, and after our tuition open date (which is usually around 8 weeks before the course starts).

4. Enrolment

Enrolment takes place around a week before the course starts. You'll be invited to complete an enrolment form, provide some ID and other documents, and attend an enrolment session. This is usually a group video call to get everything set up ahead of day 1.
