Our co-founders, Dr Andrea Cullen and Lorna Armitage, have been awarded Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King’s Honours List for their exceptional services to cyber security.

Andrea and Lorna have been a part of the cyber security industry for over 20 years, shaping policy, driving innovation, and championing diversity in a field where women and LGBTQ+ professionals remain significantly underrepresented. Their work has consistently focused on helping to fulfil the UK’s cyber skills need and strengthen national resilience against evolving threats.

Both from Bradford, and from lower socio-economic backgrounds, Andrea and Lorna’s journey reflects the power of opportunity and determination. They have become respected thought leaders, speaking at major conferences, contributing to industry standards, and mentoring the next generation of cyber professionals.

Their recognition with MBEs is not only a personal achievement but a milestone for representation in tech. It highlights the importance of diverse voices in shaping the future of cyber security - a sector critical to the UK’s economy and national security.

Dr Andrea Cullen said:

"This honour is about more than us - it’s about showing that cyber security is for everyone. We need diverse perspectives to tackle complex challenges, and we’re proud to have played a part in making the industry more inclusive."

Lorna Armitage added:

"Cyber security underpins so much of modern life. Our mission has always been to strengthen the UK’s resilience while opening doors for those who might never have imagined a career in this field."

Andrea and Lorna continue to influence the industry. Their leadership and advocacy have helped shape a more inclusive, skilled, and secure future for the UK. Their MBEs are a recognition of their dedication to innovation, inclusion, and resilience. As cyber threats evolve, leaders like Andrea and Lorna remind us that the future of security depends on diverse voices and accessible pathways into the industry.

Please join us in celebrating this incredible achievement and the progress it represents for inclusion and innovation in cyber security. 🎉
