CAPSLOCK learners hired by Dyson, Allianz, Hargreaves Lansdown

CAPSLOCK are currently delivering our first cyber security re-training bootcamps online, one 16-week Full Time and one 26-week Part Time. Both courses have just passed their halfway point, and seven of our fantastic learners have already secured cyber security jobs.

Dyson, Allianz, the NHS, and Hargreaves Lansdown are among the companies who have hired our learners, for roles such as SOC Analyst, Information Security Officer and Vulnerability Analyst.

Current CAPSLOCK learners will be graduating from their respective courses in July and August this year, so these early hires have far exceeded our initial expectations. Interestingly, all seven cohort members who have secured these roles come from non-technical backgrounds, discrediting the notion that one needs extensive pre-existing tech experience to transition into cyber. One worked in a supermarket. One managed a department store. One, a young man named Mikey, was a professional dancer.

Dancer in Cyber Security
Mikey Barrett, a professional dancer, landed a job as a SOC Analyst after just 8 weeks on the CAPSLOCK cyber security bootcamp.

Talking about his incredible transition from dancer to cyber security professional, Mikey said:

“A year to the day since I finished my last contract as a professional dancer, I received and signed my first professional contract in cyber security.  I couldn’t have done it without the incredible team and training from CAPSLOCK. The training and company vision is unrivalled, and I would suggest anyone looking to transition in to cyber to check them out. I’m only a short way through my journey with them but already I’ve learnt and applied so much new knowledge!”

The CAPSLOCK ethos is that anybody can transition into a cyber career, regardless of their prior experience, with the right support and education. The transferrable skills that Mikey and indeed all our learners will bring with them are highly sought after in the cyber industry, they just need a way to get a foot in the door.

CAPLSOCK learners hired
CAPSLOCK leaners hired: our ground-breaking curriculum teaches you the skills you need to switch careers to cyber security.

So, how does a beginner transition into cyber? And why does CAPSLOCK work?

CAPSLOCK’s intensive cyber security retraining bootcamps are a great way for people without a cyber background but with a passion for tech to switch careers into this field.

You can choose between the Full-Time schedule which runs during the day for 16 weeks, or the Part Time schedule which runs during the evenings for 26 weeks.

Our curriculum, which is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Information Security, uses the proven methodology of Team-Based Learning and simulated workplace scenarios to instil a deep, holistic understanding of cyber security in the learners. The curriculum encompasses a wide range of cyber security fundamentals, from understanding how cyber fits into a business through to penetration testing and security operations. The course also includes the opportunity to gain up to five industry certifications, including CISMP and CompTIA Security+.

We also don’t charge upfront fees. Instead, we use Income Share Agreements to enable our learners to pay for the course only after graduation, and only once they’re employed and earning a solid wage. The traditional financial barriers associated with education and training often prevent people from changing their careers. We are removing these barriers with Income Share Agreements, making our cyber retraining courses accessible to people who might otherwise not have been able to re-skill.

Finally, we don’t judge applicants on their work and educational background. You don’t need a degree to enrol, you don’t need experience, you just need to be hungry to learn. The application process requires applicants to complete some pre-course work to bring you up to speed with cyber fundamentals. This merit-based system opens the door to people who may have been excluded from other methods of education due to their background or lack of experience.
