Introducing some of our team!

Application process

Here's our admissions process, in a nutshell.

Application

Our application process is straightforward and open to everyone. We’ll ask you to complete a short, online form telling us your contact details, preferred course schedule and confirm your eligibility for the course.

Once that’s all done, keep an eye on your phone – our admissions team will be in touch!

Introductory call

It’s so important for us to get to know our applicants, so shortly after submitting your application form, you’ll receive a phone call from our friendly admissions team!

They’ll want to know more about what led you to apply why you’re interested in a career in cyber security.

Assessment

You'll be invited to undertake a self assessment and complete some pre-course work to prepare you for joining the course.

Our pre-course work is designed to give you foundational knowledge and a commitment-free opportunity to see if cyber security is the right fit for you.

Interview

After completing your pre-course work, you’ll be invited to attend an interview with the admissions team. This will be an informal conversation via a Zoom call, lasting around 20 minutes.

This conversation will focus on your motivations and aspirations for the CAPSLOCK course and beyond.

Offer & Tuition Funding

If your interview is successful, the admissions team will send across an offer of a place on the course, which will be subject to you arranging your tuition funding.

At this stage, you’ll be invited to begin arranging your tuition funding with your chosen provider.

Confirmation & Enrolment

Once your tuition funding has been arranged, your place on the course will be confirmed.

You’ll be invited to formally enrol, which includes attending an enrolment session, and we’ll get you onboarded and ready to begin your CAPSLOCK journey.

Who can reskill with us?

We don’t have rigid entry requirements at CAPSLOCK, as we know that your academic past or current situation doesn’t dictate your future potential. No matter your background, if you meet the eligibility criteria here you can apply to enrol at CAPSLOCK (though you might need to meet other requirements for some of our payment options).

You are over the age of 18.

+

We reskill adults into cyber security professions, so you need to be over the age of 18 to enrol.

You can communicate in English

+

You need to be able to communicate with your tutors, classmates, and mentors using spoken and written English throughout the course, so must be able to speak and understand English to a conversational level.

You can attend and participate in at least 90% of the course and fully engage

+

You must be able to attend and fully participate in at least 90% of the scheduled sessions to successfully complete the CAPSLOCK bootcamp. We need to have your full attention during class hours so that you can participate in the sessions. This means that you can’t be working whilst you’re in sessions.

You are open to working with others and are willing to learn and participate

+

At CAPSLOCK, you will work closely with your peers in small groups. Understanding the importance of teamwork, and openly contributing and collaborating with your team is an essential part of the course. You need to have a desire to learn new skills, develop your existing transferable skills, and be willing to fully engage and participate in the course.

You have the basic IT skills and tech needed to succeed

+

You need to have basic computer skills to access our Digital Campus. You will need a laptop or desktop computer, a webcam, a microphone or headset, and a stable internet connection. As the course is interactive with lots of discussion, you must be on camera during sessions and have a suitable, quiet place at home to focus and engage.

An investment in your future

Your questions, answered

Can you be flexible with class times? Can I miss any sessions?

+

As our virtual classroom experience is live, and structured around collaborative, team-based learning, we can’t offer flexibility around class times.

You need to maintain a minimum of 90% attendance to pass the course, which means you’ll have been able to join classes on time, for the duration of the class, for the duration of the course.

We understand that life happens – if you really can’t make a class then you can catch up on any missed work with help from tutors and teammates, however, this wouldn't be feasible on a regular basis.

If you have a pre-booked holiday that clashes with one of our cohort schedules, don’t worry! Our admissions team is on hand to help and discuss which cohort schedule would suit you best, so please get in touch.

What are the class schedules and teaching hours?

+

We offer two class schedules for you to choose from: Full Time or Part Time.

  • Full Time: A 16-week course with live classes running from 9:30am - 2:30pm (GMT), Monday-Friday.
  • Part Time: A 28-week course with live classes running from 6pm - 9pm (GMT), Monday – Thursday.

We chose these two schedules to try to cater to as many people as possible. We've had learners studying between school drop-off and pick-up times, after 9-5 jobs, and around all sorts of other commitments. Hopefully you can find a schedule which works for you.

Which elements of cyber security will this course cover?

+

As cyber security is as a very broad discipline, the curriculum is designed to develop you as an all-round cyber security practitioner who understands the breadth of cyber security principles and knows how to apply the knowledge you've learned in real-life scenarios.

Is the course accredited?

+

Yes! Our Certified Cyber Security Practitioner (Ce-CSP) course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Information Security (CIISec), and all CAPSLOCK graduates who pass the course are eligible to apply for Accredited Affiliate membership with CIISec.

What certifications are included? Are they well recognised?

+

When you study with CAPSLOCK, you can gain up to 4 industry certifications.

Upon passing the CAPSLOCK course, you become a "Certified Cyber Security Practitioner" and are awarded the Ce-CSP certification. This certification is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Information Security and is widely regarded in the industry.

There is also the option to obtain three additional certifications – the cost for these is included in your tuition fee. Whilst we don’t directly teach these external certs, the course naturally covers a lot of the content, and we offer independent study materials.
